20 Months

Jackson is 20 months (as of Saturday)!  At-home measurements have him at  26.5 lbs and  34 inches.  Here’s a comparison:

18 months old
25 lbs, 2 oz (63%)
33 in (60%)
20 months old
26.5 lbs (68%)
34 in (79%)

Current Developmental Milestones:

  • Signing – now signing “milk” regularly; will sign “sorry,” “please” and “thank you” if I ask him to (I have kind of slacked off and haven't really learned any new signs…)
  • Talking – now refers to all letters and numbers as “e” (so for example, he will point to the address on our door and say “e, e, e, e…..”  Also says “moo” for cow
  • Teeth – 8 upper, 8 lower … all the cuspid teeth are in now.  Only ones left are the second molars!
  • Favorite toy right now – trucks; sometimes his baby doll (he calls it “baby”)
  • Favorite books – There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Go Dog, Go!, and Where the Wild Things Are
  • Cute behaviors – will do an Eskimo “nose” kiss with me, and laughs every time!  Also, when he’s tired, now he not only sucks his fingers, but he has to have something to do with the other hand, so he rubs his eyelashes --- this is crazy because it’s exactly what I did when I was little and sucked my thumb!
  • Not-so-cute behaviors – still obsessed with putting his hand in his pants all the time!  I have almost resorted to the pediatrician’s recommendation of duct-taping the diaper…. and am so over saying “no hands” !
  • Favorite TV show – still Yo Gabba Gabba, and Blues Clues, and for the first time, he finally seems interested in Sesame Street (beyond just the Elmo part…. speaking of which, even though he hasn’t watched Elmo that much, he is already infatuated, and if we see an Elmo product out and about, he very excitedly points it out to me)
  • Wearing size 18/24 months clothes, and in size 4 diapers
