What a Mouth!

Jackson’s vocabulary has significantly expanded over the last couple of weeks.  Perhaps owing tribute to spending two weeks with a slightly older, much more verbal Sabrina???

Previously, Jackson had:  mommy, daddy, pappy, maw maw, hi, bye, moo, p[l]ease … and that’s about it.  Now he seems eager to try to repeat words and is much more interested in being verbal.

Here are some of the newer words that have surfaced:

  • “a-nah-na” = banana.  Often referred to with regards to wanting to eat a banana, as well as pointing them out in the pictures when reading Goodnight Gorilla (which we do. every. single. night.)
  • “mohh” = moon.  Also pointed out in the pictures when reading Goodnight Gorilla.
  • “ah-mee” or “ah-nee” = auntie.  Steph was super thrilled with this, but he’s spotty about doing it on command.  He has however surprised her with it a few times when trying to get her attention.
  • “ah-nan” = Alan.  Much to Steph’s annoyance, he seemed eager to say Alan’s name on command.
  • “mammy” or “ammy” = Grammy
  • “ah non” = all done
  • “eh-mo!!” = Elmo (and is always said with an exclamation)
  • “apple”
  • “moh” = milk
  • “do-tor” = doctor

Also --- in the past, he would always refer to any letter or number as “e” (and would point at them and say “ e e e e e e”.  For some random reason, now they are all Ms and so he points at letters or numbers and says “Emmmmm    Emmmmmm  Emmmmm”

It is so exciting to see him learning and understanding!  And it’s probably realllllyyyy time to start watching what I say! ;)
