More Talking

Jackson’s vocabulary expansion is amazing!  I can’t keep up with all the new words and phrases.  I’ve tried to start writing them down to remember some of them.  Here are a few of my favorites recently….  sometimes he catches me off guard and makes me actually laugh out loud!

Mommy’s  _________
(car, shoes, bag…. has to point out anything that is Mommy’s!)  He will also say Jackson’s shoe/car/hat/etc

Oh no! It fall down!
He says this one a lot.  He has to point out when something falls, or if something looks like it has fallen in a picture, or if something falls on tv, when he tips over his tower of “apple juice” cans, or even sometimes when he drops things on purpose…  I love this one though because he says it with so much emphasis and gets a little serious scowl on his face -- “oh noooooo!  It fall down!”

motorcycle
Jackson can tell vehicles by their sounds now (train, airplane, siren) and the other day he heard a motorcycle and said the word --- although it sounded something like “moto-sit-el”

Elmo’s World
Now Jackson refers to the segment of Sesame Street by its proper name, Elmo’s World.  Took me longer than it should have to realize that’s what he was saying about Elmo the first time he said it. :)  He also now genuinely enjoys Abby’s Flying Fairy School and will exclaim “Abby school!” when it comes on :)

Christmas tree
Jackson still likes to point out that there are Christmas trees everywhere --- all the evergreens are identified as “Chis-mas chee”

Big __________
Jackson likes to point out when things are big/bigger.  Big tree.  Big bus. Big truck. Big car.  Etc.  When we are cleaning up his toys before bed we always talk about being a “big help” and he will say “big hep!”  So cute.

Shhhhh…… listen
He’s started to ask you to “listen” to things, especially when he’s trying to hear an airplane, train, or sirens :)  And it’s even cuter when he precedes it with a “shhhh” (complete with finger over mouth gesture)!

Oh man….
Toddler-speak for “bummer!” or “uh-oh”

ABCs
He’s not too keen on repeating the alphabet letter by letter like he used to, but now he will say “ABC” (fast, like in one breath) and “E-F” (eee, aahhf) and still has a lot of fun with “L” (lulululululul)

Counting
He can count to 5 on his own now!  And he understand the concept of each number matching to an item.  He usually counts his “apple juice” containers as he stacks them (cans that came with his pretend play food set), but sometimes will count other things.  He’ll go to 5 and then sometimes he’ll go to 6 or 8 and usually finishes out with 9-10, so he’s getting close to 10.

And this morning, his Grammy left me a note that said that he said:  “crazy dog” and “Apple Jacks.”  Sounds like a good morning!  Although it could also mean that crazy dog tried to eat his Apple Jacks, which is very  much a possibility…..
