Jacksonisms

Latest and greatest awesome things out of my little man's mouth :)

Happy Birthday
Balloons There have been a lot of birthdays amongst family and friends over the last several weeks, and Jackson is definitely on a birthday kick.  For a couple of weeks, he would say "happy birthday!" regularly at random times.  He had kind of stopped doing it recently, but a few days ago, I was getting him out of the car, and he said "I love you so much Mommy. [pause] .... Haaaappppyyyyy Birthdaayyyyy!"  It was absolutely hilarious.

Shapes
shape_flashcards_1 I forgot to mention in Jackson's 2 and a half growth/development post that he is also doing very well with shape recognition, and knows all the basic shapes, and can identify some of the others like diamonds, hearts, stars, and even octagons sometimes.  He surprised me the other day though with finding a shape where it was a little more of an abstract situation.  I was sitting on the couch, with my leg crossed at ankle to knee.  Jackson excitedly said "It's a triangle, Mommy!" and he was pointing at the arrangement of my legs.  What the what?!?!  He surprises me so often with how much he's learning and understanding!  I totally would not be surprised at all if he started throwing around words like "isosceles" or "perpendicular."  Perhaps my distaste for babytalk or overly simplified language is starting to show through in Jackson's vocabulary and conceptual understanding..... aw, naaahhhhh; it's probably just Moose & Zee. :)

Actually...
Another word/phrase Jackson has picked up from me (I think?  I say it a lot...) is "Actually..."  I want to give him some geek chic glasses and a prepster sweater to wear.  Just kidding, yo.

Proud
Another one Jackson’s copied from me….  one day out of the blue he said:  “I’m so proud of you, Mommy!”

Dancey Dance.
Jackson loves to ask people to dance now, although it sounds more like a command.  When one of his toys plays music, or if there’s a song he likes, he excitedly says:  “Dance, Mommy, DANCE!”  And he’s persistent, so usually I end up giving in.  Please ignore the weird girl driving down the road and awkwardly bobbing her head and shoulders to a motorcycle toy tune.

More Phrases

  •  “No thank you” – he’s pretty good about saying this version of “NO!” these days.
  • "I think so” or “I don’t think so”  --- this one always makes me chuckle, to see him pondering something so deeply.  He’ll say “Hmmmmmm….. I don’t think so.” sometimes when I ask him a question.
  • That’s disgusting.” – I know I’m guilty of using this one sometimes (and “gross” and “yuck”), especially when he wants to drink bath water….
  • Are you happy?” – he often asks this when he’s in trouble, or sometimes just out of the blue

Halloween Identity Crisis
When I asked Jackson the other day what he wanted to be for Halloween, he said: “Hmmm… a polar bear… a lion….AND a pirate ship man!”

I got 5 on it.
letters 004 As we passed a gas station, Jackson exclaimed “Mommy look!  There are so many fives!” (in reference to the prices).  It makes me chuckle at the things his little mind discovers and finds interesting :)    And amazed that he can identify most of the numbers 1 – 10!
