Jackson is now going to a daycare “school” regularly – two days a week. He’s been on a waiting list for about 74.875 months or something ridiculous at a place I’ve chosen not too far off my work commute route. It was the best option I could find, even though it didn’t particularly fit all the criteria I was hoping for (tough luck being an agnostic-minded person in the deep south, where religion tends to monopolize the part-time preschool market). Alas, the other aspects of the school are superb, and I guess every other parent in the neighborhood thinks so too, because it seems like we’re going to wait for.ev.er. to get in!
In the mean time, while we play the never-ending waitlist game, I was sort of bummed that J wasn’t going to be in preschool by 3 years old, which was always the timing I had expected to enroll him. Just so happens though, his Grammy took a vacay last month, and we had to find backup care – our usual always at the ready backup center (through a corporate employment program) just so happened to no longer accept kids over 2. So we had to find something new – one of my friends recently started teaching at a daycare in a nearby town, and when I realized they had availability, we signed him up for the week. I was nervous, because our last backup experience at another daycare turned into a full-on nightmare by the end, but this center looked to be a better option – smaller class, and he would have a friend with him as well as a teacher he already knows well. And in the end, he did great, and he now, thankfully, loves going to “school.” So after the backup week was up, we decided to keep him going to that daycare regularly, until he gets into the preschool he’s waitlisted for. This temporary daycare isn’t ideal for our commute, but it’s worth it for now so that he can have the social and educational experiences a couple of times a week :)
Anyway…. alllllllllll that just to introduce some new art! A major bonus to daycare is that I get to have lots of art to display and adore! :)
