When you gotta go…
While playing outside in our back yard one evening, Jackson suddenly exclaimed: “Mommy! I just pee peed in the sand!” The boy peed in his sand box, in broad daylight, in our backyard, a mere 30 second walk from an actual bathroom. Ahhh, boys.
Bad to the bone
I don’t even remember the context around this statement, but I made a note that one day he said “My name is Bad.” haha! He must have been feeling guilty about his behavior.
Birds and Bees
We’re already entering a stage where Jackson’s natural curiosity and inquisitiveness is extending into the realm of gender differences and the like. The other day we had this exchange:
J: “Do you have a penis?”
Me: “No, girls and women don’t have a penis.”
J: “What happened to it? Did it fall off?”
It was all I could do to keep from laughing….
BFF
Out of the blue, bein’ sweet one day: “Mommy, you’re my best friend.”
On the flip side…
One day when he was angry with me for some sort of discipline or saying no or something similarly tyrannical… “Mommy, I don’t like you.”
Growin’ Up
Discussing something Jackson would have to wait to do until he was older… “I’m still not older yet. [PAUSE] I have one more thing to do before I get older. [PAUSE] I have to…….. be a big boy.”
