a whole lotta Halloween

Halloween somehow morphs into a huge multi-event extravaganza with all the festivals and celebrations leading up to the big night.  It’s a lot of excitement … and of course, loads of fun!

First up was the Halloween festival at a nearby local town – we went with some family/friends, and it was a blast!  Albeit pretty cold, we lasted a decent length of time with our bundled selves :)  A surprising number of people (including adults) were in costume, so it was fun to people-watch, and the kids loved all the games & activities --- which were all TOTALLY free!  We had some yummy festival food for dinner too… this momma’s favorite part of all this fall fun ;)

S. (an adorable cupcake!)  & Jackson – the race car driver! (frugal mama note … I scored this costume for $5 at a consignment sale!)

All the kids “bounced” down the super slide – hilarious.

Jackson ready to play the game he was most excited for – the mallet-poundy-thingy

This was my favorite by far… Ghostbusters car complete with entire crew in full gear!!!  I was singing the theme song all night!  I had heard rumor this car existed, but thought it was the stuff of local legends…. :)

We also made Halloween cookies this past weekend (J has been so eager to find many ways to use up the Halloween sprinkles we have on hand).  Unfortunately he lost the opportunity to carve a pumpkin due to some behavior issues… bummer.  Better luck next year, I suppose! :)

the final product …. is there nothing more adorable than 100% kid-created & decorated baked goods?????  love. them.

Oh, but our Halloween-a-thon ain’t over yet!  Up next…. a celebration at pre-school!
