Beachy Bums

Somehow, I missed out on a beach trip last year with Jackson, so I was determined to make it happen this year.  We visited Surfside Beach, which is just south of Myrtle Beach in SC, and is ADORABLE. We were able to walk to so many restaurants, treat shops, and stores, and I loved it.  We also were right next door to a large pier, so it was fun to check that out from on top and below. :)  Here’s our trip in pictures!

Our little area at Surfside Beach – we had beautiful days with the perfect just-warm-enough weather!

We were both really excited that we had an ocean-front balcony off our room – Jackson shouted “I can see the WHOLE WORLD from here!”

a ton of self-shots…. what else is a single mom to do? :)

We both loved this cute little seafood restaurant across the street from our hotel. And as you can see, Sock Monkey went many places with us on the trip :)

Playing in the sand was some serious business, and pretty much still his favorite thing to do.

His favorite game was pretending to build roads with “hot pavement” wet sand…. a very dirty job!

Even though it was a bit chilly, he still wanted to swim in the pool – he’s such a little adventurous swimmer these days!

We also went to Alligator Adventure and saw lots of neat animals :) Including some rather “amorous” turtles.

I only took about 723 pictures of the pier. It invokes my love of the juxtaposition of nature and architecture.

It was an awesome trip – there were some challenges to traveling alone with a 4 year old, but by and large it was a great getaway, and hopefully we will make our way back to this little cute beach area another summer soon!
