Jacksonisms

Here are some of my latest favorite phrases and tidbits on the J-man.

• "Where Mommy's house go???"  He usually asks this on the way home our out to go somewhere.  Quite befuddling that WE go somewhere, not the house. :)
• Up the road / Down the Road:  When Jackson asks where some place is at, if you respond either up or down the road, he will correct you and say it's the other one... no matter which one you choose!
• "It's not funny, Mommy"  This must be a phrase I've used without realizing it, and it's one of Jackson's favorites right now.  Yesterday I was laughing quite robustly at something, and he kept insisting "It's not funny Mommy!!"
• "Because."  Jackson has just started answering my "why...." questions with the ever-popular succinct "Because."  It's cute... for now.
• "I doooooooo it!"  Jackson says this eighteen-teen times every hour.  Because he has shifted beyond the recent moderate desire to be autonomous into this I-do-it Monster who has a tantrum if I attempt to assist him in any manner.  Case in point --- he refused to eat any ice cream when we were at a recent event because I wouldn't let him hold the cup by himself.  Even though he had his own spoon (we were sharing a cup).
• "I no like it." More asserting of independence.  He'll say this if you try to get him to do anything he doesn't want to.  
• "No, I not."  When he doesn't want to do something.  Which is EVERY SINGLE TIME I ask him to clean up toys.  Our #1 battle on the daily.
• "Scary!"  He's now starting to tell me when something is scary to him.  Sadface :(
• "Mocha!  Bad Dog!"  He is definitely pleased that he has someone to boss around, so Mocha takes the verbal abuse, unfortunately.  Usually her offense is attempting to, or occasionally successfully, eating Jackson's food off the table when I'm not looking.  

Favorite Songs right now...

• Wheels on the Bus -- I'll catch him singing this one by himself in the car often.  He especially likes the bus driver saying "Move ON back!" (which may or may not be a real part of the song...can't remember where I picked that up...)
• Twinkle Twinkle Little Star -- this is his favorite bedtime song, and he can sing along :)

Favorite Books right now....

• Llama Llama Mad at Mama --- this is about a llama who has to run errands with his Mama and he gets bored and throws a tantrum.  Eeeeerrrillllyyyyy familiar....  He loves that Llama Llama gets his ice cream treat at the end though.  And the way he says the title is hilarious --- something akin to "rama mama rama"
• David Gets in Trouble --- this is a book about a little boy who does all sorts of things to get in trouble, and then at the end admits it and says he's sorry.  The sentences are really short on each page (like "It was an accident." or "I forgot!") but even after just a couple of readings, Jackson has memorized a good bit of it and pulls it out and reads it on his own.  Totally freak-tastic seeing my 2 year old reading a book and saying the words correctly page after page.... even if from memory.

Favorite TV right now....

• Dora the Explorer -- Jackson LOVES LOVES LOVES this show, and asks to watch it all the time.  It trumps everything.  He loves Dora and "Booooooots" :)  This is ALL he watches at home now, unless I happen to veto his selection and make him watch whatever's on Nick Jr (because, hello!, I love those freakin' Wonder Pets and I need some variety every now and then.).
• I hear that he likes Thomas the Train and Curious George when not at home.

Favorite Toys right now...

• Tools -- he has a couple of tool sets, and loves to play with all the little tools.  For some reason, he seems to like the pliers the most (and can identify all the tools by name).
• Cars & Trucks!!! -- Obsessed with anything cars / trucks / construction; he has to carry some with him in the car and everywhere he goes.  They are often found in his pockets, car seat, bed...everywhere!
