a new bed!

Jackson’s been sleeping in his crib since he was a wee baby, and even though he’s been in the “converted” toddler bed version, it was really getting to be time to move him into a big boy bed.  I decided to opt for a twin, and have been watching craigslist for a deal to pop up for some time.  Unfortunately, most of the beds on there weren’t really fitting to blend in with his existing furniture.  But finally my patience and persistence paid off!  I found a relatively new, rarely used Pier 1 Kids dark wood bed frame that looks to be a reallllyyyyyy close knock-off version of the Pottery Barn Kids Kendall collection, which is the exact line for the rest of his bedroom furniture!  And it was a major deal -- what a score!!

J’s Uncle Alan & Auntie Steph were a huge help, and drove out to south Charlotte to pick it up for us, grab a mattress from Sam’s, and help us take out the old crib and put together the new one.  Jackson had lots of fun “helping” with the project, and subsequently  jumping and bouncing all over the new bed.

Jackson helping Uncle Alan put the bed together.  (my boy is insisting on wearing only shirts & underwear around the house these days…hence the picnik pixelation…because I’m not sure if I should publish pictures of him in undies… but the pics are too cute!)

Helping put the boards in place – love that this bed has a bottom foundation and doesn’t need a a box spring!

All tucked in his new bed!  (well, bedding is still on my list of things to buy, so this makeshift too-big fitted sheet is only temporary!  Going to hit up IKEA & Walmart for some inexpensive options soon.

I still need to decide if I want to adjust the arrangement of any of the furniture or large toys, but I think most of the big stuff will stay where it’s at.  Can’t wait to see it all finally come together though with new bedding!  And bedtime stories are much more comfortable for us (well, me) now!
