Jacksonisms

bird watching
When picking Jackson up one day from his Grammy & Pappy’s house… he exclaims:  “I see a pecker!!”        [long pause & chuckles from the grown ups]     We realized he thought he saw a woodpecker.  It was actually a cardinal. :)

ok, mom
Jackson’s taken to calling me all different varieties of mom, mahhhmaa (with a southern drawl), mommy, and plain old mom.  One of the phrases he uses quite regularly these days is “ok, mom.”  He usually says it when he’s following directions complacently….but I can’t help but wonder if he’s forming the beginning subtle twinges of veiled sarcasm.  I can only be proud to watch as he hones the craft of my favorite variant of humor :)

sleepyhead
We’ve been having some sleep issues lately…. I’m lucky, because I’ve had very minimal sleep disruptions and issues with Jackson since he was about 3 months old.  But with potty training came the realization that he can leave his room after bedtime, and with longer daylight, it’s not as easy to fall asleep straight away.  Some nights he fusses about for hours before finally crashing.  One night, he stayed up late, and had to get up early for daycare/school the next morning.  I had my first experience of wake-up resistance… sleepily, he muttered, “I want to sleep for one more minute, mom.”    I had turned on the lamp, and told him he could wake up for a few minutes… when I came back, he had turned off the light, shut his door, and snuggled back in bed for some real snooze action!  Hilarious.  Yeah, he was a total grumpy pants for a while that particular morning…

wishes
We have a Dora the Explorer book of stories we read sometimes at bedtime.  One of them is about a star you wish upon at bedtime.  When we finished the story, I asked Jackson what he would wish for.  His prompt response, without hesitation?  “A bologna sandwich.”  What the what??  I’ve never even served this boy any form of bologna anything!

Some day I won’t….
Mommy, you know EVERYTHING.”   -- said Jackson, as he asked me to help him with something.

p to the s.  I totally miss his shaggerific hair after I see this pic!
